The original high school was built in Mayville in 1912. The Portland School was built in 1936 and the two consolidated in July 1971. The current high school was built in 1975, and the middle school was added in 1992. Clifford and Galesburg joined the school district in 1993. The Peter Boe Jr. Elementary school was the site of the original high school and now has been replaced with a new wing of the elementary school scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2003.
The communities of Mayville and Portland are located 12 miles west of Interstate 29 on Highway 200. Clifford and Galesburg are located 12 and 19 miles south of Portland on Highway 10. The May-Port CG School district consists of approximately 620 students in grades K-12. Grades K-5 attend classes in Mayville with 264 students, teachers, and support staff, and the middle grades 6-8 and high school grades 9-12 attend the classes at the Westwood site with 423 students, teachers, and support staff.
