Rick Holman is a lifelong resident of Traill and Steele counties. A graduate of Clifford High School, he has a Bachelor of Science degree in Math and Science Education from Mayville State University, a Master of Science in Math Education from Bemidji (MN) State University, and a Doctor of Education degree in Teaching and Learning from the University of North Dakota.

Rick taught math and science at Warren (MN) and Mayville-Portland high schools, farmed in the Clifford, Galesburg, and Hope areas, and is a retired professor from Mayville State University.

He represents District 20 in the North Dakota House of Representatives, and serves on the Human Services and Agriculture committees. Rick is President of the Gran Lutheran Church Council, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Red River Human Services Foundation and the Eastern Area Health Education Consortium. He is a member of the May-Port Lions, Hillsboro Kiwanis, and Goose River Masonic Lodge. He and his wife ,Marilyn, have three adult children and two grandchildren. They live on a farmstead east of Mayville.
